Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom says he will be "Hillary's worst nightmare" as he revealed plans for a US version of the Internet Party.
Dotcom, who is fighting extradition to the US where he is wanted on piracy charges took to Twitter today to announce the new political movement.
"The Internet Party is coming to the United States in 2015. Stay tuned for our celebrity founders from the music, film and Internet industry," Dotcom posted.
Minutes later he clarified that his role in the party would be limited.
"The Internet Party US will be well funded and run by American citizens. I will help with Public Relations ;-)".
Dotcom said however that he would be "Hillary's worst nightmare in 2016!" The statement appears to be a reference to Hillary Clinton, who is the favourite to win the Democrats' nomination to fight the 2016 US presidential election.
Dotcom helped found the Internet Party earlier this year and poured in millions of dollars of his own money.
He later helped strike a deal with the Mana Party to run on a combined ticket, which could have allowed him to coat tail MPs into Parliament if Mana leader Hone Harawira had retained his seat.
After initially appearing to rise in the polls, after a series of high profile events, the party suffered from infighting.
It eventually attracted only 1.42 per cent of the vote in the September 20 election. With Harawira defeated by Labour's Kelvin Davis in Te Tai Tokerau, the party failed to gain any MPs in Parliament.
Although Dotcom attacked National and its leader John Key throughout the campaign, his profile in the campaign was said by commentators to have helped boost turnout among National supporters, so ultimately helped see the National Party re-elected.
It is unclear what relationship the US Internet Party would have with the New Zealand party.
