'Mad Men's' Jon Hamm treated for alcohol addiction, asks for privacy - LA Times

“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for alcohol addiction, his publicist confirmed Tuesday night.

It is unclear when Hamm entered the program, but he did his treatment with the support of his longtime partner, “Friends With Kids” writer-director and star Jennifer Westfeldt, according to a statement from his publicist, Annett Wolf.

Hamm, 44, is best known for playing Don Draper, the lead in the critically acclaimed AMC series “Mad Men.” The series will begin airing its final spate of episodes April 5.

The Draper character has also struggled with alcohol.

Hamm and Westfeldt asked for their privacy concerning the matter, according to Wolf, and no additional information was released.

Hamm has been out and about in recent days promoting “Mad Men.” On Monday, he joined his fellow cast members in New York City to unveil a bench that features the silhouette of Don Draper.

Although "Mad Men" is ending, Hamm's career is going strong.

He has roles in two high-profile Netflix series: the critically acclaimed “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” in which he plays the leader of a post-apocalyptic cult, and the upcoming “Wet Hot American Summer,” a prequel to the 2001 cult indie comedy about hijinks at an overnight camp.

Hamm has appeared in numerous movies, including "The Town," "Sucker Punch," "Bridesmaids" and "Million Dollar Arm."
