When you stop to think about the divisions in this nation, you realize that the issue of color is one of the most heated and most divisive. There’s people protesting in Baltimore, the town known internationally by just its first name of “Ferguson”, and more and more dissension popping up every day.
But down in Florida, there is a Sheriff who has something he wants to say. Sheriff David Morgan oversees the county of Escambia, Florida, where his words ring strong and true in a culture that is suffering from so much division.
Morgan says that its not OK to use the term “African American” because we’re all just Americans and those sorts of terms are divisive in nature. He says on record that this is “not a racist nation.”
“We must work the right end of the problem. The right end of the problem, I will tell you as a law enforcement officer, is not to build larger jails; it’s not to hire more law enforcement officers; it’s to get into our families, our school systems, and yes, our churches and start to bring back the training of character and integrity into our communities. Because we have raised an asocial generation.”
Bravo Sheriff Morgan. You are a great patriot and we thank you for speaking out and working to bring more unity, peace, and safety to our country!
