Dear Mr. Goldberg:

Our association recently became aware of SurveyMonkey’s relationship with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) from our Pork industry contacts. We are disappointed in your ongoing support of the organization through the SurveyMonkey Contribute program.

You may or may not be aware that HSUS portrays itself in television ads as supporting local pet shelters, but in reality, spends less than 1% of its funding with local shelters.  In reality, HSUS spends a majority of funding on their administration and a well orchestrated smear campaign against agricultural food production systems of today- systems that are based in family farmers who work really hard to provide safe, affordable food.

Businesses and organizations are defined by the company they keep. SurveyMonkey has made a distinct choice in aligning charitable giving with an essentially anti-agriculture organization.  SurveyMonkey clearly makes a choice as to which charities it will feature and which ones it will not.  We urge you to do your own research and evaluate your HSUS choice. We believe you will be surprised. We also believe that if your customers understood the true nature of the HSUS, they, too, would reconsider their support.

You have a great survey tool and we have used SurveyMonkey for many years, but with your donation to HSUS, we are no longer interested in using your services. We hope, as you re-evaluate your SurveyMonkey Contribute program giving to HSUS, that we will be able to once again utilize your services.

Sincerely,

Roger Zylstra, President  Iowa Corn Growers Association
