ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A gunman opened fire on Thursday (October 1) at a community college in Oregon, reportedly killing up to 15 people and wounding some 20 others, in the latest mass killing to rock a U.S. school, officials and local media said. The suspect was not identified but was reportedly a man in his late 20s. The Douglas County Sheriff's office said on Facebook that officers had responded to a shooting at the college following 911 calls at 10:38 a.m. local time (1738 GMT). In audio from a police scanner in the area provided by Broadcastify, a female dispatcher speaks about reports of one female who was shot and a shooter firing through a door.
