VIDEO-Carson: Americans need guns to defend themselves against government | Reuters.com

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson repeated his opposition to gun control in an interview on the CBS news program "Face the Nation" on Sunday (October 11). Carson said Americans needed to be armed in case "we have a time when we have the wrong people in government." The retired neurosurgeon has a new book about the U.S. Constitution called, A More Perfect Union. In it, he says that confiscating the guns of American citizens would violate the Constitution, as well as rendering citizens vulnerable to criminals and tyrants. Carson has come under fire for suggesting a Muslim should not be president of the United States; that he would have fought the gunman rather than get shot after a mass shooting left nine people dead at the Umpqua Community College in Oregon; and that gun control was a boon to Adolf Hitler.
