Directions for Kid’s Mac & Cheese Cup Costume
TO MAKE THE CUP:
- Download this PDF.Take it to your local printer and have it printed.
- Cut out the Mac & Cheese cup image with scissors and lay it over the basket. If necessary, trim to fit basket.
- Use double sided tape to secure the artwork to the front of the basket to hold in place. Use hot glue to secure the edges of the paper to the basket in the back.
- Have your child try on the costume. The top of the basket should rest just below their hips. Get out your yellow ribbon to make straps. The length of the ribbon will depend on your child’s height, so cut the two straps accordingly.
- Using the glue gun, carefully glue the two ribbon strips to the inside front and back of the basket so that the ribbon sits on each shoulder comfortably and evenly.
TO FILL IT WITH NOODLES:
- Cut your foam core into a circle, measured to the inside circumference of the top of your basket.
- Paint the foam core board yellow. The foam core will be used to support the noodles on the inside of your child’s costume.
- With your child’s back flush to the back inside of the basket, measure the empty space from the front of their torso to the inside front of the basket. Cut your foam core circle to fit this space. Be sure to leave some breathing room so that it fits your child comfortably. Use hot glue to attach the foam core to the inside of the basket.
- Take your 15 sheets of yellow construction paper and fold it in half, hamburger style. Cut. You will have 30 pieces.
- Roll these pieces hot dog style into the shape of noodles and fasten with doubled sided tape.
- Hot glue half of the noodles on top of the foam core. It should look like your child is resting in a Mac & Cheese Cup.
- Hot glue the remaining paper noodles to the yellow Tshirt.
- Have a cheesy Halloween!

- Download this PDF. Take it to your local printer and have it printed. The boxes should measure 21 x 40 so ask for assistance when printing on the size of the paper. There will be two pages total.
- On a flat surface, glue the pages to the foam core. Using a straight edge, cut out the boxes using the print lines and crop marks. The boards will measure 21 x 40 when cut out.
- To make the straps, cut two pieces of 2 1⁄2 inch thick yellow ribbon about 17 inches long. This ribbon will rest on your shoulders and attach the pieces of foam core together so the exact length will depend on your height. Make sure the box doesn’t hang too low so you can walk!
- Time to secure the straps! First, measure about 4 inches inward from the length of the front board on both sides. Glue the end of one ribbon onto the inside of the board, towards the top. Repeat on the other end of the front board using your second ribbon. Measure 4 inches inward from the length of the back board on both sides and secure the remaining ends of the two ribbons with glue. The two boards should know be attached by the ribbons and be able to fit over your head, resting on your shoulders.
- Cut 4 pieces of the 1⁄2 inch ribbon, each 22 inches long. Measure 13 inches down from the top of the front board and glue the edge of one ribbon to the inside. Repeat on the opposite end of the the front board. Do the same on the back board. There should be two pieces of the 1⁄2 inch ribbon on each board. Once you have put the costume on these will tie at your sides to keep the boards stable.
- Try it on. Tie the ribbons at the side to keep stable.
- Have a tasty Halloween!
