GORST, Wash. -- John Beavers freely admits he is not overly political. He's never voted before. Something in the presidential campaign of Republican Donald Trump has inspired him to become involved, which is why his pickup truck is decked out in the candidate's name.
But Beavers spoke more as angry father and human Tuesday, rather than Trump advocate. His video shows Beavers's truck, a trailer it was pulling and the people inside being pelted with water bottles, water balloons and other items while participating in a Fourth of July parade in Burien.
"It's appropriate for adults, grown adults to throw their water bottles or whatever at kids," he asked rhetorically, "It's not right. Who cares about Trump? They were attacking the people in the car."
In the video, people from the crowd are clearly hurling items at the Trump truck, some children even ventured out into the street and sprayed those inside with water. It's not clear of others in the parade got the same treatment.
Beavers said he asked parade organizers and Burien Police to step in, but he claims nothing happened.
"Everybody has a right to their own opinion," he said, "Like or dislike, it doesn't mean you attack people because of it."
Discover Burien event manager Debra George, responsible for helping put the parade on, said staff only learned of the incident afterwards.
"No one reported anything to us," explained George, "We don't want something like this to happen again."
