Speaking in Istanbul on Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that Turkey could open its border, allowing an influx of migrants to enter the EU, following the European Parliament's decision to temporarily freeze accession talks with Ankara.
SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President (Turkish): "You [the EU] have never been honest to the world. You have never look to it truthfully. You didn't save baby Alan when his dead body was washed to the shore. You didn't save baby Imran. We are the shelter for three and a half million refugees. You didn't keep your promises."
SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President (Turkish): "When 50,000 immigrants reached (the border town) of Kapikule, you wailed. What would we do if Turkey opened the border gates, you've pondered. Look here, if this goes any further, those border gates will be opened. Neither me nor my people get nothing out of those false threats."
