Vegas Shooter's Brother Arrested For Child Porn In North Hollywood - North Hollywood, CA Patch

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — The brother of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock was arrested for possession of child pornography and the sexual exploitation of a child Wednesday morning in North Hollywood.

Bruce Paddock was arrested at an assisted living home and that police had been pursuing him since before his brother Stephen, shot hundreds of people at a music festival in Las Vegas on Oct. 1, killing 58 people and taking his own life. A task force including the FBI and LAPD had been looking for Bruce Paddock, finding him with the help of a tip, according to TMZ. Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck has said Bruce Paddock had no known involvement in the mass murder.

News footage showed him in a wheelchair being loaded into a van by police officers.

Paddock was arrested on 20 counts related to possession and distribution of child pornography. According to a Los Angeles County Superior Court arrest warrant, Paddock allegedly had about 600 images of child pornography including 10 images involving a child under the age of 12. The crimes were allegedly comitted in 2014.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the case began "after evidence was discovered inside a business located in the 9000 block of San Fernando Road in Sun Valley. Paddock had been squatting inside the business and after his eviction, the evidence was discovered," an LAPD statement says. "At the time of the initial investigation, Paddock was a transient and could not be located."

Paddock was being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in lieu of $60,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, which circulated his photo and urged possible victims to call Lt. Andrea Grossman at (562) 624- 4027, or (877) LAPD-247.

Bruce Paddock spoke to various reporters after the Oct. 1 Las Vegas shooting, saying he had not been in touch with his brother for a decade.

"I don't know how he could stoop to this low point, hurting someone else," Paddock told NBC News. "It wasn't suicide by cop since he killed himself. He killed a bunch of people and then killed himself so he didn't have to face whatever it was."

According to NBC News and other outlets, Bruce Paddock has a criminal record that includes convictions for vandalism, theft and criminal threats.

Benjamin Paddock, the father of Bruce and Stephen, was a bank robber who once appeared on the FBI's most-wanted list.
