Two San Francisco supervisors want to ban the construction of new employee cafeterias in office buildings. The proposal is similar in spirit to a rule in Mountain View that forbids Facebook from providing free meals to employees at its new campus. Supporters of the measures see them as key to breaking down the insular nature of tech companies and reinvigorating local restaurant economies.
