On Wednesday morning, Howard welcomes in first-time guest Hillary Rodham Clinton. The politician, lawyer, diplomat, author, and recent Democratic presidential nominee sits down with Howard following the release of her eighth book, “The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience,” co-authored by her daughter Chelsea Clinton.
A trailblazing woman herself, Hillary served as First Lady of the United States throughout most of the ‘90s, was elected New York’s first female U.S. Senator in 2001, and was appointed U.S. Secretary of State by President Barack Obama in 2009. She served as America’s top diplomat through 2013 and set a record during her tenure by visiting 112 different countries. In 2016, Clinton emerged as the Democratic presidential nominee and became the first woman from either major party to see her name at the top of the ticket.
Clinton has released multiple books since then, including 2017’s “What Happened” which offered a first-hand account of what she believes led to her 2016 defeat. Hitting shelves in October, “The Book of Gutsy Women” celebrates a variety of women who have influenced Hillary and Chelsea, from Pakistani activist and recent Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai to renowned 19th Century abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
