Conditions have eased on the far South Coast of New South Wales following a day of threatening bushfires, while rain has fallen in the town of Eden proving much needed relief following the earlier evacuation of residents. Thick smoke still blankets the area after the town experienced a number of difficult days as damaging bushfires raged through nearby regions. On Sunday morning an emergency level bushfire was headed towards the town, coming from the Victorian border. Containment lines are now being built around the area.
