(WENY) - The Excelsior Pass was tested for a second time in New York. This pass uses technology to show proof of a person's COVID-19 vaccination or recent negative test.
The technology was successfully tested during the first phase of the pilot program at a Brooklyn Nets game last week. It was just tested again last night at the New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden.
People can either print out their pass or keep it in their "wallet app" on their phone. Each pass has a code which confirms a person's COVID-19 health status. This is all in a move to open theaters, stadiums and other businesses across New York State.
MSG Entertainment's released a statement in regards to the Excelsior Pass. The statement reads:
"We applaud Governor Cuomo's leadership in reopening New York. The Excelsior Pass program, along with his decision to allow venues to begin welcoming fans, will play important roles in helping to get our City back on its feet."
