CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Duke Energy spokesperson confirmed that the Charlotte-based utility company will be laying off employees as part of a “clean energy transition.”
The company did not specify how many employees will be laid off, or which states or locations the layoffs will occur.
Duke Energy released the following statement regarding the decision:
“Duke Energy is entering the next phase of its clean energy transition, which calls for a transformative expansion and modernization of our energy generation and grid. In preparation, we are reorganizing for greater efficiency and cost effectiveness to deliver smarter energy solutions that are affordable, reliable and cleaner for our customers and communities. As a result, we expect limited workforce impacts across our service territories.”
The company said it did not have any further details to share.
