The only reason Trump is tying this to drug trade between our country and yours, is because it allows him to declare a state of emergency between the countries involved in the USMCA trade agreement. Otherwise he wouldn’t be able to add tariffs to products not outlined in the existing agreement.

- The reason why us Canadians protect our dairy is because American milk is fucking G R O S S. Its full of chemicals, hormones, antibiotics and nonsense. Modern America is synonymous with cutting corners these days in seems due to late stage capitalism.

- Canada's dairy is better because laws regarding food production are stricter - see our eggs haven't gone up like yours has. Personally, the US can take the entire dairy industry and boof it. We do have bird flu here but strangely, it's not as bad because our eggs aren't produced by mega corps on one site - they are smaller, more numerous sites as far as I know. Our largest producer made 470k "units of egg quota" in 2016, but the true numbers of eggs or hens aren't known. Compare that to Cal-Maine Foods who has 42.2 MILLION laying hens as of late 2024.
- There are a lot of good things America has that Canada doesn't, but the MAIN thing that protects us from poisonous food is our socialized healthcare, because again, nobody really benefits by having people sick and in bed here. In America, doctors are essentially rewarded for iatrogenic effects - that is to say, doctors are rewarded for causing MORE problems resulting in longer hospital stays, etc costing more money to the patient.

- I live on a small farm that's mile from the US border. I used to cross 2 to 3 times a week for fuel to Bonners Ferry Idaho, farm supplies and groceries. Now the Canadian side is nailing us 25% on everything.
- It's bad, they first prohibited our AR-15's, then froze the sale of pistols but we can still use them. But they can never be sold or passed on to family. Then they've been systematically prohibiting all our semi-auto rifles by executing Orders in Council, not by proper legislation. So now I have two 9mm carbines that were non-restricted status to prohibited status with the stroke of Trudeau's pen. The Liberals plan on doing a buyback program for prohibited firearms and destroying them. It's terrifying!

- It isn't the Mexican cartels but the pro-Khalistan Indians who are smuggling it into Canada to fund their 'independence' from India. Short form is most likely a joint operation between the American and Canadian intelligence agencies as they've been protecting them in Canada. The ultimate goal I guess is to rattle the Indians and cause problems for them.

- The news is now saying that cutting USAID funding means children in Africa will die of Malaria. I worked in Tanzania (island of Zanzibar) for 4 years and experienced two USAID anti-malaria projects. 1. The distribution of mosquito nets. This is a great idea, but not well implemented. USAID brought the nets to Tanzania and gave them to the government to distribute. There was no follow up on a known corrupt government, so the nets sat in a warehouse. Finally another US charity found out about this and bought the nets from the Tanzanian government (corruption verified) and distributed them among the people.
- 2. USAID decided the best way to combat malaria was to spray insecticides in everyone’s homes. They used a combination of pyrethroids, organochlorids, carbamates and organophosphates. These insecticides are not exactly good for people either. Side effects are neurological, respiratory and gastrointestinal issues. Our local clinic was inundated with people with chemical burns after touching surfaces that had been sprayed. Stopping malaria was more important than the health of the people they were trying to help.
- I have had malaria and agree it isn’t fun. Prophylactics don’t really help because it mutates faster than Covid, and so what works this year may not work next year. Killing mosquitoes is an admirable goal, but you need to consider the people that live in that area.
