- Ozempic Blindness lawsuit
- Adam—Life imitates No Agenda. Y’all have discussed
- all the Ozempic marketing, the efforts to get it covered by insurance,
- the health risks that these drugs entail, and the abject lack of
- transparency shrouding the whole operation. You’ve even talked about
- Ozempic-induced blindness.
- Now there’s a lawsuit in New Jersey claiming that Ozempic made a woman go blind by inducing a condition called “nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy,” or “NAION.” Short, highlighted article attached.
- According to the lawsuit:
- happens suddenly, often when people wake up blind in one eye. It’s
- irreversible, and 15% of the time spreads to the other eye.
- · Novo Nordisk has had a lot of evidence linking Ozempic to NAION, but failed to warn anyone.
- the same time, Novo Nordisk is spending “hundreds of millions” of
- dollars (1) to have obesity classified as a “disease,” (2) to “ingrain[]
- these drugs in the pop culture zeitgeist,” and (3) to get private
- insurers to cover the drug.
- I say again: Life imitates No Agenda.
