- Shutdown
- ATC Shutdown BOTG
- Good evening Mr. Curry, ITM! General feelings around ATC is dependent on your political affiliation, unfortunately. Trump voters are not surprised by what’s happening, and are financially sound decision makers, some of us saved three months of bills just for this instance once Trump got elected. Others of the more lib-tarded affiliation are up in arms and very complainy about them not being able to make their car payment for their $80k lexus or Tesla trucks. The general consensus of the lib-tarded group is “why can’t we just give everyone free healthcare?! We’re the richest country in the world!” A fascinating and unheard of message from left leaning communist federal workers.
- Trump voters such as myself are simply laughing through this while working, occasionally doing a Trump impression calling other coworkers gay. In the area of airspace my wife and I work in; morale is generally up, even while staffing is still terrible and working six days a week unpaid isn’t necessarily ideal, I think we realize as a group that it comes down to helping the guy sitting next to you, “embrace the suck” if you will.
- However, news flash git-mo nation, without us you don’t get your Amazon packages or go on vacation. It may be wise to cancel your vacation or drive the deeper into this it goes the more mile in trail increases, the angrier and more “sick” controllers get causing cancelations and delays. My prediction is this will go until after the holidays, if you have holiday flying plans, I suggest you drive. It’s only gonna get worse.
- The most hilarious part is watching the union shills and scammers spin themselves in circles when the overwhelming democrat supporting union (NATCA) finally changed course to supporting the GOP C.R. These people in the union are finally coming around to realizing the union is merely a toothless yipping dog fenced in barking at the mailman walking by. Stop giving this union your money people and give your dues to the No Agenda Show!!!
- Other than that…. God is good, family is healthy, we are not complaining but only glorifying God for the blessings we have. We’ll get paid…… eventually?

- How SNAP Works
- The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, is a federal program that provides nutrition benefits to eligible low-income individuals and families. The funding for SNAP benefits is entirely provided by the federal government, while administrative costs are shared between the federal government and states. Below, I'll explain the standard process of how the money flows from the federal level to recipients and ultimately to retailers, based on the program's typical operations.
- ### 1. **Federal Funding Allocation**
- - SNAP is authorized and funded through the federal Farm Bill (reauthorized periodically by Congress) and annual appropriations.
- - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service (USDA FNS) oversees the program and receives the appropriated funds from the U.S. Treasury.
- - These funds are made available as an open-ended entitlement, meaning spending adjusts automatically based on participation levels and economic needs (e.g., rising during recessions). In fiscal year 2024, this totaled about $100 billion for benefits. Nearly all of this (around 93-95%) goes directly to benefits, with the rest covering administration, nutrition education, and related programs.
- ### 2. **Distribution to States**
- - The USDA FNS provides funds to state agencies via electronic Letters of Credit, which act as a line of credit backed by federal money.
- - States administer the program, including determining eligibility, calculating benefit amounts, and handling applications. The federal government covers 100% of the benefit costs but splits administrative expenses 50/50 with states.
- - Each month, states compile issuance files with details on eligible recipients and their benefit amounts, then send these to contracted Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) vendors.
- ### 3. **Loading Benefits for Recipients**
- - EBT vendors (private contractors hired by states) load the approved benefit amounts onto recipients' EBT cards or accounts, typically at the start of each month or on a staggered schedule based on the recipient's case number.
- - Benefits are electronic credits (like a debit card), not physical cash, and can only be used for eligible food items at authorized retailers. Average monthly benefits are around $187 per person, though this varies by household size and income.
- - Recipients do not receive direct cash transfers; instead, the funds remain in the federal-backed system until spent.
- ### 4. **Spending at Retailers and Reimbursement**
- - Recipients use their EBT cards at USDA-authorized retailers (e.g., grocery stores, farmers' markets) to purchase eligible items. The transaction is processed in real-time through the EBT system, deducting the purchase amount from the recipient's account balance.
- - The retailer submits the transaction to the EBT processor (the vendor handling the system's backend).
- - The EBT processor credits the retailer's bank account, usually within 24-48 hours, and then draws the equivalent amount from the state's Letter of Credit.
- - This draw triggers the release of federal funds from the USDA/Treasury to reimburse the full amount. Retailers are reimbursed at face value—no fees or discounts—and the process supports local economies by injecting funds into businesses.
- This electronic system ensures efficiency, reduces fraud, and allows for quick adjustments. Note that as of November 2025, a federal government shutdown has disrupted normal funding, leading to delays or partial payments in some cases, with courts ordering the use of contingency reserves to continue benefits. However, the core flow described above represents the program's standard operation. For the most current details on your state, check your local SNAP agency or the USDA website.

- Drone Wars
- The FCC just gave itself the power to make a DJI drone ban stick The Verge
- So the DJI drone ban is rapidly approaching. This is will shake up a lot
- of industries as DJI is used quite broadly, everything from LEO,
- Firefighting, video production and Agriculture. Article here. Basically
- DJI is being banned without even having a security audit performed on
- their hardware. Really speaks to lobbying to get them out of the states,
- and Im pretty sure the NJ debacle was the catalyst for this. Its really
- sad as I personally dont think they are nefarious and their technology
- cannot be touched. Any other company is light years behind them. Here is
- a recent article on the latest happenings in the space.
- What I think should be relayed on the show, is any producers that
- have DJI hardware, to be sure to update the software and try and
- purchase any props or batteries you might need as they are already hard
- to find and will be impossible soon. The ban is set to go into effect
- Jan 1. So update that software by then. I feel this is not widely known
- and is not in the news so the more amateur drone pilots should know this
- Thanks for your time, sir.

- ### What is Bovaer?
- Bovaer is a feed additive developed by the Swiss-Dutch company DSM-Firmenich. Its active ingredient, 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP), works by suppressing a specific enzyme in a cow's rumen (the first stomach compartment) that produces methane during digestion. This reduces methane emissions from dairy cows by about 27-30% and from beef cattle by up to 45%. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, and livestock farming contributes significantly to global emissions, which is why Bovaer is promoted as a tool for climate mitigation. The additive breaks down naturally in the cow's digestive system into compounds already present in the rumen, and regulators confirm it leaves no residues in milk, meat, or manure, making it safe for human consumption. It has been approved by authorities in over 68 countries, including the EU's European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the UK's Food Standards Agency (FSA), and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, based on over 150 peer-reviewed studies.
- Bovaer is typically mixed into feed at low doses (about 60-80 mg per kg of dry matter) and has been in commercial use since around 2021. It's not a drug but a supplement, often compared to other feed additives like vitamins or minerals. However, some studies have noted potential side effects in cows at recommended doses, such as reduced feed intake, which could indicate discomfort or welfare issues.
- ### The Danish Policy and Mandate
- Denmark, a major dairy producer, has aggressive climate goals under its Green Tripartite Agreement, aiming to cut agricultural greenhouse gas emissions by 55-65% by 2030. As part of this, starting January 1, 2025, all non-organic dairy farms with more than 50 cows must incorporate methane-reducing measures into their feeding routines. Farmers have two main options:
- - Feed cows a high-fat diet (at least 48g of fatty acids per kg of dry matter) year-round, which can reduce methane by altering digestion.
- - Use a 3-NOP additive like Bovaer for at least 80 days per year.
- The government provides subsidies to cover costs (e.g., around 1,000 DKK per cow annually), with extra incentives for exceeding the minimum. Failure to comply can result in fines or loss of subsidies. Bovaer is currently the primary approved additive in Denmark, though the policy allows equivalents if they meet standards. This mandate applies only to larger conventional farms; organic farms are exempt.
- The policy stems from Denmark's broader push for sustainable agriculture, including breeding low-emission cows and other innovations. Arla Foods, a major Danish-Swedish dairy cooperative, has been involved in piloting Bovaer and supports the initiative, though it's farmer-owned and profits go back to members.
- ### The "Scandal" and Claims of Harm
- The so-called "Bovaer scandal" in Denmark refers to widespread social media and anecdotal reports emerging around October-November 2025 claiming that the additive is causing severe health issues in cows, including:
- - Sudden collapses, high fevers (up to 40°C), diarrhea, mastitis (udder inflammation), reduced milk production, and refusal to eat treated feed.
- - Deaths, with some unverified claims of "thousands" of cows dying or being euthanized.
- - Farmers reportedly noticing quick recovery when they stop using Bovaer and switch back to normal feed.
- These claims gained traction on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, with posts from farmers and commentators alleging the mandate is an "uncontrolled experiment" forcing toxic chemicals on healthy animals. For example:
- - One farmer reportedly lost 6 cows in a month.
- - Others describe it as similar to past chemical scandals like DDT or Teflon, arguing it's unnecessary for "raske dyr" (healthy animals) and driven by climate ideology rather than science.
- Critics tie this to broader conspiracy narratives, falsely claiming involvement by Bill Gates (he's not; DSM-Firmenich owns it fully, with major investors like BlackRock and Vanguard). Some argue it's part of a "depopulation" agenda or an attack on traditional farming, leading to calls for boycotts of Danish dairy products like Arla's Lurpak butter or Cravendale milk. These reports intensified after the mandate's implementation, with some sources misstating the start date as October 1, 2025, instead of January.
- Similar concerns have echoed in neighboring countries like Norway, where farmers report comparable issues and resist mandates set for 2027.
- ### Counterarguments and Official Stance
- Official sources and the manufacturer strongly refute widespread harm, labeling much of the outcry as misinformation similar to earlier UK boycotts in late 2024. Key points:
- - **Safety for Cows:** Regulators like EFSA conclude Bovaer is safe at approved doses, with no established margin of safety issues in most studies, though genotoxicity (potential DNA damage) wasn't fully ruled out in early reviews. High-dose animal trials (e.g., in rats) showed risks like fertility damage or tumors, but these are irrelevant to cow dosing.
- - **No Official Death Reports:** There are no confirmed official reports from Danish authorities linking Bovaer to mass cow deaths as of November 2025. Claims appear anecdotal, with no peer-reviewed evidence of widespread fatalities. Factors like seasonal illnesses, poor feed mixing, or unrelated farm issues could explain symptoms.
- - **Ongoing Investigations:** Aarhus University launched a 2025-2028 project to specifically examine Bovaer's welfare impacts, including behavior, comfort, and feed preferences, after prior studies noted reduced intake. This is the first dedicated welfare study, acknowledging potential gaps.
- - **Broader Context:** Proponents argue methane from cows is part of a natural carbon cycle, but industrial farming amplifies it. Critics say the mandate ignores root causes like monoculture or over-concentration of livestock, prioritizing quick fixes for political targets.
- The Danish minister has rejected calls for warning labels on milk, citing no evidence of harm. DSM-Firmenich emphasizes two years of safe use globally without issues.
- ### Why the Controversy Persists
- This "scandal" mirrors global debates on climate policies vs. farming realities. Farmers feel burdened by mandates that could hurt livelihoods if cows produce less milk or require euthanasia. Social media amplifies unverified stories, fueling boycotts and distrust, while officials point to rigorous testing. If welfare concerns are validated by the Aarhus study, it could lead to policy changes; otherwise, it may be dismissed as misinformation. For now, it's a flashpoint in the tension between environmental goals and animal agriculture. If you're a consumer, opting for organic Danish dairy avoids the additive entirely.

- The State of Education in MA
- In the morning, Adam & John!
- I write to you as a teacher with an update on the state of education here in Massachusetts.
- The ongoing DEI push is continuing to hurt our schools. This week, my district officially banned Halloween. Annoying, but not totally surprising. What really prompted me to write is that our administration is now debating whether students can even use the word _“thankful”_ in an English writing assignment because it’s tied to Thanksgiving. Teachers are frustrated. The problem isn’t us, it’s weak administration too afraid to push back against bad policies. “Inclusion” sounds nice, but it’s now being used to _exclude_ others.
- Meanwhile, we’re teaching classes of 35 students that include special education, and even non-English speakers, all together with little support. Each has individual needs and behavioral issues that require attention, which inevitably lowers the rigor for everyone else. We do this because grouping students based on their **needs** is now viewed as discriminatory.
- As for “equity,” it often means being told to change grades so students can pass, even if they’ve done zero work, and promoting kids with chronic truancy. What kind of message are we sending when we do this??
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion may sound good on paper, but in practice, it’s failing our schools. Teachers are doing our best, but we have little say under policies **created by people who’ve never taught in a classroom.** (Yes, you can become a school administrator with **zero** teaching experience...)
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion sounds good on paper, but in practice doesn't work. Period.
- Anyway, thanks for reading and for all you do!
